Apple Unveils Redesigned Siri AI and A20 Pro Chip as CEO John Ternus Makes Debut

NEW: Apple unveils a Gemini-powered Siri overhaul and its first 2-nanometer chip, the A20 Pro, at CEO John Ternus's debut keynote, alongside a $1,999 foldable iPhone shipping in October.

Apple just put Google inside Siri.

The new Siri AI runs on Gemini, under a deal reportedly worth about a billion dollars a year. Apple spent a decade telling us it would never rent someone else's brain, and here we are. And there's a catch, it won't work on any iPhone or iPad in the European Union at launch. Brussels gets the phone, not the assistant.

John Ternus fronted his first keynote as CEO and had real hardware to show. The A20 Pro is Apple's first chip on TSMC's 2 nanometer process, with a dual Neural Engine and 32 cores, double last year's. Then the folding phone, the iPhone Duo, starting at 1,999 dollars, topping out near three grand, shipping in October.

So Apple's boldest product in years arrives with borrowed intelligence and a whole continent locked out of its headline feature. That's the trade Ternus signed up for.
