Cars torched, shops looted: Violence protests erupt across France; over 270 arrested
BREAKING: More than 270 arrested as violent protests erupt across France, with cars torched and shops looted during nationwide anti-cost-of-living demonstrations.
More than 270 people are under arrest tonight after protests across France turned violent.
The demonstrations over the cost of living spread nationwide today, and in several cities they tipped over. Cars were torched, shops were looted, and riot police moved in with tear gas, you can see them here advancing through the clouds in full gear.
And these images tell you how far this has gone, burning barricades in the streets, a French flag held up against the flames. This started weeks ago with students marching over crumbling schools. It's now a national confrontation over what life in France costs, and the government hasn't found an answer that calms anyone down.
Two hundred and seventy arrests in a single day, and the anger that filled those streets hasn't gone anywhere. The pressure is now squarely on the Elysee.
