Trump says Karoline Leavitt resigning as White House press secretary
BREAKING: Karoline Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in history, will step down at the end of August to spend more time with her family, President Trump says.
Karoline Leavitt is out as White House press secretary at the end of August.
She's 28, the youngest person to ever hold the job, and she's held that podium since Trump came back in January 2025, you can see her here in the briefing room. Trump broke the news himself on Truth Social, saying she wants to spend more time with her, quote, beautiful young children, a decision he totally understands and respects.
And her side of it is genuinely human. She gave birth to her daughter Viviana in May, went back to work, and says she felt in her heart she couldn't be the best mom while doing one of the most demanding jobs on the planet. Fair enough.
She's not vanishing though. Trump says she becomes one of his top outside advisors and works with the party on the November midterms. So the podium changes hands, and the microphone follows her out the door.
