Trump sends Saudi nuclear deal to Congress, keeps Israel normalisation as condition

A thirty year nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia just landed on Congress's desk.

Trump sent it over with one big string attached, Riyadh has to normalise relations with Israel first. No handshake with Jerusalem, no reactors. You can see the two men behind this here, Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who've been circling this arrangement for years.

Congress now has ninety days to review it. That's the whole window, and it's a civil nuclear programme we're talking about, enrichment questions, proliferation questions, the works. Lawmakers who spent years worried about Saudi nuclear ambitions now have to weigh that against the biggest diplomatic prize on the board, and these Oval Office sessions are where the pieces got moved.

So the Saudis get nuclear power, Israel gets recognition, and Trump gets to say he redrew the Middle East. All of it hinges on a handshake that hasn't happened yet. Ninety days on the clock.
