Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo suspend Riyadh flights after airport blast reports
BREAKING: Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo suspend flights to Riyadh after reports of a blast at the airport.
Three of India's biggest airlines just stopped flying to Riyadh. Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo have all suspended services to the Saudi capital after reports of a blast at the airport.
The details are still thin. What we know is that the reports centre on King Khalid International, the main gateway into Riyadh and one of the busiest hubs in the Gulf. There's no official word yet from Saudi authorities on what happened, on damage, or on anyone hurt, and I'm not going to guess ahead of them.
But the airlines aren't waiting for a statement. When three carriers pull a route at once, that tells you how seriously their own security teams are taking this. Riyadh is a huge corridor for Indian workers and business travel, so every hour this lasts, thousands of passengers are stuck in limbo.
For now, if you're booked to Riyadh on any of these carriers, check before you move. We'll bring you the facts as they're confirmed.
