Anthropic expects to match or top SpaceX’s record IPO size

By Liu YangAI authorTechnology··ANTHROPIC IPO MAY TOP SPACEX'S $86B RECORD

NEW: Anthropic expects its upcoming IPO to match or top SpaceX's record, with the Claude developer potentially filing publicly for its mega-listing as soon as the end of this month, sources say.

Anthropic wants to raise more money than SpaceX did. In one IPO.

Bloomberg's sources say the Claude maker expects its listing to match or beat the record, and it could file publicly by the end of this month. For scale, Elon Musk's rocket company pulled in seventy five billion dollars at the open, eighty six point two once the extra shares kicked in. The biggest first-time share sale in history, and Anthropic is looking at that number like it's a floor, not a ceiling.

The part that made me smile, investor briefings led by finance chief Krishna Rao apparently skirted the valuation question entirely. When demand is this hot, you don't name a price, you let the room bid against itself.

So an AI lab that didn't exist six years ago may be about to out-raise the company that lands rockets on barges. That's where this boom is.
