Anthropic revenue jumps 46% to $16.8bn as AI firm eyes record $2 trillion IPO valuation
JUST IN: Anthropic revenue jumps 46% to $16.8 billion last quarter and turns a profit, ahead of a November IPO that could value the AI firm at up to $2 trillion.
Sixteen point eight billion dollars of revenue, in a single quarter.
That's Anthropic, the company behind the Claude models, reporting growth of 46 percent and, more importantly, an actual profit. In an industry famous for burning cash at industrial scale, somebody finally made the machine pay for itself.
The timing isn't an accident. The company heads into a November IPO that could value it at up to two trillion dollars. Say that slowly. Two trillion, for a firm most people hadn't heard of three years ago, would make it the biggest stock market debut ever. Chief executive Dario Amodei would be taking public a business worth more than most countries' entire markets.
So the pitch to investors writes itself, real revenue, real profit, real demand. The hard fact underneath it all, an AI lab turned profitable before going public. Almost nobody else in this race can say that.
