BREAKING: Bend, Oregon school shooting leaves 4 dead, including three children ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher, police say. A 16-year-old gunman armed with a long gun was shot dead by a community member; two others are in critical condition.
Four people are dead after a shooting at an elementary school in Bend, Oregon. Three of them were children, aged five, eight and eleven. The fourth was their teacher.
Police say the gunman was a sixteen year old from Bend, armed with a long gun, who walked into Silver Rail Elementary on Thursday. A community member saw him enter the school, went after him, and shot him dead. Police Chief Mike Krantz confirmed the details at a press conference, though he wouldn't say whether the shooter had any connection to the school.
Two more victims, a seven year old child and a fifty four year old teacher, are in critical condition tonight at St. Charles Medical Center. Police will brief again tomorrow.
Three children went to school this morning and did not come home. That is where this story stands tonight.
