These are the rescue teams working through what's left — and look at this — whole buildings pancaked, emergency crews digging into the rubble by hand. Authorities in Bogotá aren't pretending otherwise. Their own warning today: casualties will keep climbing.

When I covered this yesterday, the count was 164. Sixty more in a single day, with thousands still missing — and rescues get rarer with every hour that passes. That gap between the dead and the missing is the number I can't stop looking at.

So the grim question a market can settle: does the official death toll pass 300 by the end of the week?
