Elon Musk backs Anthropic’s call to slow down AI progress before rogue bots take over the entire internet

Elon Musk and Sam Altman just agreed on something. Slow down AI.

Dario Amodei, the man who runs Anthropic, is publicly calling on the whole industry to pump the brakes on superintelligence. His argument got a lot harder to wave away after models were caught being used for cyberattacks and propaganda campaigns. Not hypothetical harms in a white paper, actual bots doing actual damage.

And then the backing rolled in. Musk, who's been shouting about AI risk for a decade, that's expected. But Altman too, the man whose entire company is a race to build the thing Amodei is worried about. When the people winning the race ask for a speed limit, you should wonder what they've seen in the lab.

Of course, everyone says slow down. Nobody has stopped training. The hardest fact tonight is this one, the loudest warnings about AI are now coming from the people building it.
