Houthis say Saudi Arabia strikes oil site in Yemen's capital
BREAKING: Houthis say Saudi Arabia has struck an oil site in Yemen's capital Sanaa, as the two sides trade threats to hit each other's energy facilities, including Saudi giant Aramco.
Saudi Arabia has struck an oil site in Yemen's capital, according to the Houthis.
The strike hit Sanaa, and these pictures show the aftermath, fire and black smoke pouring out of the facility. What makes this moment dangerous is the escalation around it. Both sides have been openly threatening each other's energy infrastructure for days.
The Houthis have named their target list, and it includes Aramco, the Saudi oil giant whose facilities underpin a serious share of the world's crude supply. Yemen has lived through years of this war, and every round that pulls oil infrastructure into the crosshairs pulls the rest of the world in with it.
The last time Aramco was hit, in 2019, half of Saudi output went offline overnight. That is the threat now sitting on the table.
