Hurricane Isaias live updates: Conditions deteriorate on Gulf Coast
BREAKING: Hurricane Isaias making landfall along the Florida Panhandle as conditions deteriorate across the Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Isaias is making landfall on the Florida Panhandle right now.
Conditions are deteriorating across the Gulf Coast as the storm comes ashore, and this is the stretch of Florida that knows exactly what a hurricane can do. These are low lying communities, long exposed beaches, and towns that have rebuilt more than once after storms like this one.
The hours ahead are the dangerous ones. Landfall is when the wind, the rain and the storm surge all arrive together, and it's when emergency officials tell people to stay where they are, because moving in the middle of it is how people get hurt. The National Hurricane Center is tracking this minute by minute, and so are we.
If you are anywhere on that coast tonight, follow local orders and stay off the roads. We'll bring you the picture as soon as it's light.
