Iran says two tankers have hit Hormuz naval mines, attacks regional targets in retaliation to U.S. strikes
BREAKING: Iran says two oil tankers have struck naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz and it is hitting regional targets in retaliation, after US forces completed another wave of strikes across the country.
Two oil tankers have hit naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. That's according to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, who say the vessels were disabled and their crews forced off after taking what Tehran calls an illegal route through the strait.
This follows a fresh wave of American strikes. US Central Command says it hit air defence sites, communications and radar across Iran, retaliation for attempted Iranian attacks on shipping and on American service members. President Trump posted that the US has almost total control of the strait and asked when the Iranian people will rise up.
Iran's answer came by missile. Jordan says thirteen were fired at its territory from Iran, ten intercepted, three landing in remote areas with no casualties reported. Bahrain says it destroyed incoming Iranian strikes too.
So the fight is no longer contained to two capitals. It's now touching allies, tanker crews, and a fifth of the world's oil route.
