Iran war live: IRGC attacks US unmanned vessel in Hormuz; two ships hit
BREAKING: Iran's Revolutionary Guard says it attacked a US unmanned 'Saildrone-type' vessel at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, with maritime authority UKMTO reporting projectiles hit two ships off Oman.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard says it just shot at an American vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
An unmanned one, to be precise. The IRGC claims its navy struck a US Saildrone-type drone vessel at the entrance of the strait, saying it thwarted what it called an aggressive mission. These robot boats have been the Pentagon's eyes on this waterway for years, and now Tehran is openly firing at them.
And it didn't stop there. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre, the authority every merchant captain in the region listens to, reports projectiles hit two ships off the coast of Oman. Two crewed commercial vessels, in the same window, in the same neighbourhood.
No drone means no American sailors in the line of fire, and that may be the only reason this isn't a bigger night. But a fifth of the world's oil moves through that strait, and someone is now shooting at the traffic.
