Netanyahu under fire over report UAE warned of October 7 attack
NEW: Israeli opposition leaders call Netanyahu unfit to serve after a report claims the UAE warned him before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack.
A new report says Netanyahu was warned about October 7 in advance.
Haaretz published an excerpt from a forthcoming book by its own reporters, and the claim is stark. UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke to Netanyahu a week and a half before the Hamas attack, and told him a major operation was being planned.
The reaction in Israel was immediate. Opposition leaders called the prime minister unfit to serve. You can see the crowds here, protesters who have spent months demanding a state commission of inquiry into how October 7 happened. This report will only make those calls louder.
Netanyahu has fought off that inquiry so far, and here he is still campaigning. But there is a difference between failing to see an attack coming and being told one was coming by a head of state. If the Haaretz account holds up, that is the question he now has to answer.
