Putin, Trump hold 1-hour call after visit by US envoys to broker Russia-Ukraine peace
JUST IN: Putin and Trump hold a one-hour call after US envoys visited Moscow to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal.
Putin and Trump just spent a full hour on the phone.
The call came right after American envoys flew to Moscow, trying to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. You can see the delegation on the tarmac here. An hour is a long time for two presidents. Pleasantries take five minutes. Sixty means somebody was actually negotiating something.
Neither the White House nor the Kremlin has given us a readout with real substance yet, so what we know is the shape of the thing. Envoys in Moscow first, then the leaders on the line. That's a sequence, not a coincidence. That's how deals get built, or how they fall apart quietly.
And notice who wasn't reported on that call. Kyiv. Whatever was discussed for an hour, Ukraine will be living with it either way.
