PSG edge Villa to win back-to-back Super Cups
BREAKING: PSG win the UEFA Super Cup for a second straight year, beating Aston Villa 2-1 thanks to Desire Doue's second-half goal.
PSG just went back to back in the Super Cup, and a seventeen year old nearly ruined the party.
Two one over Aston Villa in Salzburg. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened it in the twentieth with an absolute rocket inside the near post, first Georgian ever to score in this game. Then Brian Madjo, seventeen years old, making his competitive debut for Villa days after a registration fight with FIFA, volleyed the equaliser. What a way to introduce yourself.
Desire Doue settled it just after the hour, running onto Dembele's pass and curling it into the far corner. The flag went up, VAR pulled it back down, and PSG had their trophy. They lifted it wearing shirts that read, it was never going to be just one. Subtle.
Luis Enrique admitted his players aren't even in top shape yet. They're the first back to back Super Cup winners since Real Madrid a decade ago, and this could be the first of six trophies this season. Europe, you've been warned.
