Turkiye, Pakistan to deploy forces to Saudi as Yemen fighting grows
JUST IN: Turkiye and Pakistan agree to deploy rapid deployment forces to Saudi Arabia during emergency talks in Riyadh, as fighting with Yemen's Houthis intensifies.
Turkiye and Pakistan are sending troops to Saudi Arabia.
The agreement came out of emergency talks in Riyadh, and this is the room where it happened, senior Pakistani, Saudi and Turkish officials around one table under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement. The decision, rapid deployment forces from both countries move onto Saudi soil as the fighting with Yemen's Houthis gets worse, not better.
And it is getting worse. Yemen's government forces, the ones Riyadh backs, have launched a counter offensive to claw back territory the Houthis took. So you now have an active front in Yemen and foreign troops flowing into the kingdom at the same time.
Step back for a second. Ankara and Islamabad putting soldiers inside Saudi Arabia is the kind of move that redraws the security map of the region. What started as a Yemeni war now has three more capitals directly invested in how it ends.
