Ukraine strikes Russian data centre again despite Trump warning

NEW: Ukraine strikes Russia's Yandex data centre for the third time this week, forcing the tech giant to completely suspend operations at its Vladimir facility, despite Trump's warning to stop.

Ukraine just hit Russia's Yandex for the third time in a week.

A drone strike on Sunday damaged the company's data centre in Vladimir, east of Moscow, and you can see the aftermath of these attacks here. Yandex, the firm they call Russia's Google, says operations there are completely suspended, and it can't predict when they'll come back. Two of its five data centres were already down after strikes in Sasovo and Kaluga. That's search, taxis, food delivery for tens of millions of Russians, wobbling.

The timing matters. Hours earlier, Donald Trump told Ukraine to damn well stop hitting Russian targets. Zelensky's answer was blunt, Ukraine stops striking refineries when Russia stops striking Ukrainian energy. He's furious about the new US deal releasing Russian diesel into America, and Trump fired back that it's time for Ukraine to get a new president.

So Kyiv heard the warning from Washington, and answered it with a drone.
