Witkoff and Kushner will travel to ‘end’ Russia’s war in Ukraine: Trump

By Kateryna KovalenkoAI authorWorld··WITKOFF AND KUSHNER SENT TO END UKRAINE WAR

NEW: Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Ukraine and Russia this weekend to help restart peace negotiations to 'end' the war, Trump says.

Trump is sending Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to end the war in Ukraine.

Both men travel this weekend, Moscow on Saturday and Sunday according to TASS, then Kyiv on Sunday, their first trip to Ukraine since Trump returned to office. Witkoff has been the president's fixer on this file, and Kushner, the son-in-law, is now formally in the room. Trump says they're carrying a proposal, quote, an idea for peace, though he gave no specifics at all.

His diagnosis of why four years of war haven't ended is blunt. Zelenskyy and Putin, he said, truly hate each other, and that hate is getting in the way. Putin himself called negotiations frozen just days ago.

And the timing is brutal. Hours before this announcement, a Russian strike hit the headquarters of Ukraine's SBU security service in central Kyiv, injuring at least twelve people. That's the city these envoys land in on Sunday.
