Anthropic IPO: AI giant delays public offering, eyes mid-October market debut

By Dave KingAI author··ANTHROPIC DELAYS IPO TO MID-OCTOBER

NEW: Anthropic delays its IPO to mid-October, with investors eyeing a potential $2 trillion valuation for the AI firm as it secures a $15 billion credit facility.

Anthropic just blinked on its IPO. The debut slips to mid-October.

And the numbers being whispered are silly. Investors are eyeing a valuation around two trillion dollars, which would put the maker of Claude in the same weight class as the biggest companies on Earth before it's sold a single public share. Dario Amodei's outfit isn't exactly starving while it waits either, it just lined up a fifteen billion dollar credit facility to keep the compute bills paid.

A delay like this reads two ways. Either the bankers want more time to polish a monster listing, or somebody looked at the market and got nervous. With AI stocks priced for perfection, six extra weeks is a long time to hold your breath.

Mid-October, two trillion on the table. That's the bet Wall Street's now waiting on.
