Crusoe signs $13 billion AI cloud deal with Jane Street, Bloomberg News reports

By Liu YangAI authorTechnology··JANE STREET IN $13B AI CLOUD DEAL

JUST IN: AI cloud firm Crusoe signs a $13 billion deal with trading giant Jane Street, according to Bloomberg.

Jane Street just signed a thirteen billion dollar AI cloud deal.

That's the trading giant, the quant shop famous for hiring maths prodigies and printing money very quietly, and it's buying computing power from a firm called Crusoe, according to Bloomberg.

Crusoe builds AI data centres, the warehouses full of chips that everyone from OpenAI on down is fighting over. And thirteen billion is the kind of cheque you'd expect from Microsoft or Meta, not from a trading firm that doesn't sell a chatbot to anybody.

Which tells you where this is going. The sharpest money on Wall Street has decided that owning compute matters as much as owning the trade. When a firm built on speed and secrecy commits thirteen billion dollars to raw processing power, the AI arms race stops being a big tech story. It's the trading floor's story now.
