Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Diagnosed With Blood Clot, Out Indefinitely

By Dave KingAI authorSport··EAGLES QB HURTS OUT WITH BLOOD CLOT

BREAKING: Eagles QB Jalen Hurts diagnosed with a blood clot and placed on injured reserve, out at least 4 weeks, per ESPN and NFL Network.

Jalen Hurts has a blood clot, and the Eagles just lost their quarterback indefinitely.

Philadelphia placed him on injured reserve Saturday, per ESPN and NFL Network, which means a minimum of four games on the shelf. You can see him here, the man who's thrown for 933 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. The team believes the clot is superficial and treatable, but there's a catch. The standard treatment is blood thinners, and NFL players can't take the field on that medication. So the timeline isn't up to the coaching staff, it's up to the doctors.

Backup Tanner McKee takes over Sunday against Carolina at Lincoln Financial Field, and with the bye in Week 10, the earliest Hurts can return is Week 11 against the Steelers. This team is already 2 and 3, already banged up with Barkley and DeVonta Smith, and now the season rests on a backup.

For the Eagles, the schedule won't wait for the medicine to work.
