BREAKING: Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott, 49, convicted of child sex abuse against a girl and a boy in a Scottish court.
Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott has been convicted of child sex abuse.
A jury at the High Court in Glasgow found the 49 year old guilty of abusing two children over a span of decades. A girl between 1993 and 1996, and a boy between 2006 and 2010. The charges included sexual assault, indecent exposure, and touching the boy's genitals. Dott denied all of it. The jury didn't believe him. You can see him arriving at court here.
Detective Inspector Gary Smillie of Police Scotland called him a dangerous individual, and said he hopes the conviction brings some comfort to those he harmed.
Dott won the world title in 2006 and was runner up twice. Snooker's governing body suspended him when the charges surfaced last year. He'll be sentenced next month, and whatever that sentence is, his name in the record books now carries this verdict beside it.
