JUST IN: Iran rebuffs Trump's claim over the Strait of Hormuz, insisting the waterway 'will remain Iranian,' amid reports another ship has been struck.

Iran says the Strait of Hormuz cannot be seized by tweet. That's the actual line from Tehran's deputy foreign minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, after President Trump claimed that once the U. S. Defeats Iran, he'll be declaring the strait American territory. Gharibabadi's full answer was blunt, the strait has been Iranian, is Iranian, and will remain Iranian, and it opens and closes on Iran's command.

Meanwhile the water itself is getting more dangerous. The British Navy's maritime trade centre says a bulk carrier was struck by an unknown projectile that hit the hull. You can see the kind of traffic sitting exposed out there, dozens of cargo ships anchored in the world's most important oil chokepoint.

And diplomacy, there isn't any. Foreign Minister Araghchi says no negotiations are happening, just messages passed through Qatar and Pakistan. Trump's message to Americans was to tolerate four dollar gasoline while the pressure continues.

So six months into this war, no ceasefire, no talks, and ships still taking fire in the strait everyone's oil sails through.
