PSG sign World Cup final hero Torres from Barcelona
BREAKING: PSG complete the signing of Spain's World Cup final hero Ferran Torres from Barcelona for £42.7m.
Ferran Torres just cost PSG forty two point seven million pounds. Barcelona have sold the man Spain will remember as the hero of their World Cup final, and they've sold him in mid August, weeks after he lifted the thing. There he is with the trophy, the picture every kid in Spain has seen a hundred times by now.
And this is where he lands, Paris, straight into a squad that already looks stacked, with the season about to kick off. For PSG it's ruthless shopping. You wait for a player's stock to hit its absolute peak, then apparently you just pay it anyway.
For Barcelona it reads differently. Selling a World Cup final hero a month after the final tells you plenty about the books at Camp Nou, and none of it is comfortable. Champions don't usually sell their summer's biggest name unless they have to.
