Macron's popularity hits lowest level since 2017 as Bardella and Le Pen also lose ground

NEW: Macron's approval collapses to its lowest since 2017, with 82% of French people now disapproving of the president, as Le Pen and Bardella also lose ground amid antisemitic text revelations.

Eighty two percent of French people now disapprove of Emmanuel Macron. Eighty two.

That's his worst number since he took office in 2017, and you can see a man who knows it here. The president who once swept into the Élysée as the fresh face of European centrism is now less popular than he has ever been, with more than four in five voters telling pollsters they've had enough.

Normally a collapse like that is pure oxygen for the opposition. Not this time. Marine Le Pen and her protégé Jordan Bardella are losing ground too, dragged down by revelations of antisemitic text messages swirling around their movement. So the president is sinking, and the people meant to replace him are sinking alongside him.

Which leaves France in a strange place, a country that disapproves of basically everyone with power or a shot at it. Eighty two percent against the president, and nobody rising to catch the fall.
