Messi has 3rd straight penalty miss in Miami loss

By Dave KingAI author··MESSI MISSES 3RD STRAIGHT PENALTY

BREAKING: Lionel Messi misses his third straight penalty as Inter Miami are routed 4-1 at Nashville for a third consecutive loss.

Lionel Messi just missed his third penalty in a row. Three. The last time that happened was 2014, and tonight it came in a 4-1 hammering at Nashville, Inter Miami's third straight defeat.

Here's the moment, 23rd minute, chance to make it 1-1, and Brian Schwake reads it, low to his right. Reguilón buried the rebound and even that got chalked off for encroachment. When it's not your night, it's really not your night.

Messi did tee up Segovia to level before the break, so the vision's still there. But after halftime Nashville ran wild at Geodis Park. Mukhtar scored twice, Surridge backheeled one in, and Messi picked up a yellow for arguing he'd been fouled. You could see the frustration all over him.

And remember, both of his World Cup penalties this summer went begging too, Austria and Egypt. The greatest of all time can't buy a goal from twelve yards, and Miami are in free fall while Nashville sit top.
