BREAKING: Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala says he is being treated for a 'neurological dysfunction' after collapsing during a match for the second time in four days. He says he has been diagnosed with 'temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures.'

Jamal Musiala has collapsed during a match twice in four days.

On Saturday he went down in Bayern's friendly against RB Leipzig. Then on Tuesday, at Heidenheim, he collapsed again just six minutes after coming off the bench. You can see him here with the medical staff, dazed, being helped from the pitch. He's twenty three years old.

Tonight he spoke for himself. On Instagram, Musiala said he's been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures, caused by a neurological dysfunction. His words were calm. He said they seem scary at first glance, but for him they're currently just part of everyday life, and that he's receiving excellent medical treatment and feels very optimistic.

Bayern say they knew about the condition and are standing with him. This is a player who already lost half of last season to a broken ankle, then started three of Germany's four World Cup games this summer. Now football waits, and hopes, with him.
