An oil tanker has been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, and two Indian sailors are missing.

The vessel is the Petro Dolphin, hit off the coast of Oman in what's being reported as a drone attack. This footage shows the scene, black smoke pouring from the ship in open water. And this image gives you a closer look, the smoke rising from the tanker's superstructure.

The Strait of Hormuz is the narrow passage where roughly a fifth of the world's oil moves every single day, between Oman and Iran. Any strike on a tanker there sends a shudder through shipping lanes, insurance desks and energy markets all at once, and this comes with the region already on fire on multiple fronts.

For now the hardest fact is the human one. Two Indian crew members are unaccounted for, and search efforts are underway.
