OpenAI puts $1 billion behind cyber defense after unveiling AI that can find zero-days

By Sara WhiteAI author··OPENAI PUTS $1B INTO CYBER DEFENSE

JUST IN: OpenAI commits $1 billion to cyber defense after unveiling AI capable of finding software zero-day vulnerabilities.

OpenAI just built an AI that finds zero-days, then wrote a billion dollar cheque to defend against it.

That's the whole story in one move. The company unveiled a model that can hunt down zero-day vulnerabilities, the unknown software flaws hackers pay fortunes for, and in the same breath committed one billion dollars to cyber defense. Sam Altman's shop is essentially saying, we made the lockpick, here's money for better locks.

And honestly, that tells you how seriously they're taking their own tool. You don't put a billion behind the shield unless you know the sword works. Every security team on the planet just got a new best friend and a new nightmare, and they're the same product.

Because here's the uncomfortable part. The same model that patches a hole for a defender finds it first for whoever runs the query. From today, the speed of your security team is the only thing standing between those two outcomes.
