Iran hits U.S. targets over wedding strike that Washington says it is probing

Tehran calls it revenge for a strike on a wedding gathering in southern Iran on Tuesday, an attack it blames on Washington. Vice President JD Vance says the United States is investigating what happened at that wedding. Kuwait's army says it intercepted a wave of missiles and drones, while Iran's military claims it hit US assets at the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base.

This war is now six months old, and the pattern keeps hardening. Iran still holds its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, Washington keeps its counter-blockade on Iranian ports, and this week began with US raids on Sunday. Each side answers the other, and neither has a way out on the table.

An attack near a wedding, and missiles at two Gulf bases in reply. That is where six months of war has brought this.
