Panama-flagged cargo ship carrying 24 on board sinks off Odisha coast
BREAKING: A Panama-flagged cargo ship carrying 24 crew has sunk off the Odisha coast, India.
A cargo ship carrying twenty four crew has sunk off the coast of Odisha, in eastern India.
The vessel was Panama flagged, and it went down in the Bay of Bengal. This is the ship, photographed at sea during the incident. What we know right now is limited to that, twenty four people were on board when she sank, and their fate hasn't been confirmed.
These are dangerous waters at this time of year, and the Indian Coast Guard typically leads search and rescue operations off that stretch of coastline. Every hour matters in a rescue like this, and the window doesn't stay open long.
Twenty four crew members were on that ship. Until each one of them is accounted for, that is the only number that matters tonight.
