A train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and a group of other dignitaries had departed that same station only moments before.

Western figures visit Ukraine by rail because the airspace is closed, and those trains and stations have always been treated as a quiet safe corridor. Whether this strike was aimed or incidental, we don't know yet, and Moscow hasn't said anything. But a drone landing near a former CIA chief, minutes after a former UK prime minister rolled out, is the kind of near miss that gets studied very carefully in Washington and London tonight.
