Antonelli wins Spanish GP after luckless Norris loses out

BREAKING: Kimi Antonelli wins F1's first Spanish GP at the Madring after Lando Norris is undone by pit-stop misfortune, stretching his championship lead to 81 points as Max Verstappen finishes second and Norris third.

Kimi Antonelli's championship lead is now 81 points. Eighty one.

He won Formula One's first ever race at the Madring in Madrid, and there he is on the podium, win number eight of the season. But honestly, this one belonged to Lando Norris until the racing gods decided otherwise. Norris took pole, led comfortably, look at him out front in the early laps, and then Lance Stroll parked his Aston Martin in a run off area on lap fifteen.

The Virtual Safety Car came out just after Norris passed the pit entry. Antonelli and Verstappen hadn't, so they got cheap stops while Norris crawled around at reduced speed. McLaren then served him a seven second tyre change for good measure. He fought back to third, glued to Verstappen's gearbox, but couldn't get past.

Nine races left, and Lewis Hamilton is 101 points back after brake failure ended his day inside seven laps. This title fight is starting to look like a coronation.
