JUST IN: A South Korean video game tycoon is ordered to pay a record US$1.5 billion in a divorce settlement, the largest in the country's history.

One point five billion dollars. That's the price of one divorce in South Korea, and it's the biggest settlement the country has ever seen.

The man writing the cheque is a video game tycoon, one of the fortunes built on Korea's gaming boom, and a court has just ordered him to hand his ex-wife a sum most listed companies would struggle to raise. You can see the story breaking here.

For scale, Korea's previous record divorce made global headlines at a fraction of this. Games money in Seoul is dynasty money now, and family courts are treating it that way. Every chaebol spouse in the country just read this ruling very, very carefully.
