Trump says he has no regrets about starting the Iran war as U.S. dials up economic pressure
BREAKING: Trump says he has no regrets about starting the Iran war, telling Fox News he would have attacked Iran even knowing the impact on the midterm elections, as Washington ramps up economic pressure on Tehran with new bank sanctions coming Monday.
Donald Trump says he has no regrets about starting the Iran war.
He told Fox News he'd do exactly what he did, even knowing what it's cost him politically. When Laura Ingraham said he'd be cruising to a midterms victory without Iran, Trump answered that a cruising America with a nuclear armed Iran would still lose, claiming Tehran would wipe out Israel and start hitting American cities.
He keeps promising the war ends right after the elections. Yet the Wall Street Journal reports his own advisors have discussed it dragging past his term. Both of those cannot be true.
Meanwhile the Treasury is squeezing harder. Secretary Scott Bessent says a large bank gets sanctioned on Monday, timed to honor the memory of September eleventh. He's already closed the Dubai branches of Egypt's second largest bank over one point eight billion dollars allegedly funneled to Iran, plus a major Turkish lender.
So the president says it ends after the midterms. His own White House is quietly planning for years.
