BREAKING: Two ships have been hit by drones in the Black Sea with one sinking, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Rumen Radev says.

Two ships hit by drones in the Black Sea, and one of them has sunk. That's the word this morning from Bulgaria's Rumen Radev, and details beyond that are still thin, no names of vessels yet, no word on the crews.

What we do know is where this happened. The Black Sea has been the most dangerous stretch of water in Europe since the war in Ukraine began, drones and mines have hit grain carriers, tankers, cargo ships flying flags from half the world. But a Bulgarian leader going public like this matters, because Bulgaria is a NATO member, and its coastline sits right on that sea.

Every strike on shipping there pushes insurance costs up and pushes the alliance closer to a decision it doesn't want to make. A ship on the seabed this morning is the hardest fact we have.
