Houthi missile attack targets Saudi capital Riyadh for third day in a row

BREAKING: Houthis target Saudi capital Riyadh with a ballistic missile for a third consecutive day, with Saudi Arabia saying it intercepted the attack aimed at the airport.

Riyadh has now been targeted by Houthi missiles three days running.

Saudi Arabia says its air defences intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen late Monday night, aimed, the Houthis say, at King Khalid International Airport. You can see the airport here, closed since Saturday's attack and staying shut until at least the weekend. That first strike killed 13 people and wounded more than 300, the deadliest attack on the kingdom in over a decade. Sunday's killed one more.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree also claimed a drone attack on the Khamis Mushait airbase, which Riyadh says it repelled. The Saudis have opened an investigation into how missiles and drones flew more than a thousand kilometres and got through in the first place.

President Trump called the Houthis' behaviour very bad, but gave no sign of American intervention. The world's top oil exporter is under sustained fire at its own capital, and so far it is absorbing the blows alone.
