Ukrainian drones force closure of all four Moscow airports overnight, cancelling dozens of flights
NEW: Ukrainian drones force the closure of all four Moscow airports overnight, cancelling dozens of flights. Moscow's airports have now been shut for 101 hours in the first 14 days of October, more than double September's total.
All four Moscow airports shut down overnight, courtesy of Ukrainian drones.
Dozens of flights were cancelled as Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky all went dark at once. You can see the result here, terminals full of stranded passengers with nowhere to go and no timeline for getting there.
And here's the number that tells you this is a campaign, not a one-off. Moscow's airports have now been closed for 101 hours in the first fourteen days of October. That's more than double September's entire total. Kyiv has clearly decided that the war should be felt inside the Russian capital, and the cheapest way to do that is to keep the country's biggest hub permanently nervous.
Russia's air defences keep knocking drones down, but every launch still costs Moscow hours of airspace. One hundred and one hours in two weeks, and October is only half over.
