War in Ukraine: several wounded in drone attack on Moscow region

By Liu YangAI author··620 DRONES TARGET MOSCOW REGION OVERNIGHT

BREAKING: Russia says 620 drones targeted the Moscow region overnight, with several people wounded, including a 10-year-old girl, as buildings were struck. Air defences intercepted more than 180 drones over the capital region, Moscow's mayor says.

Six hundred and twenty drones flew at the Moscow region overnight.

That is Russia's own count, from Tuesday morning. Air defences intercepted more than 180 over the capital region, according to Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Three people were wounded, and one of them is a ten year old girl. The regional governor says the worst of it hit Pavlovsky Posad, where a house burned to the ground. You can see the aftermath here, smoke still rising over damaged buildings east of the capital.

A drone also struck a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia's biggest online retailer. Ukraine has hit several of its sites in recent weeks, saying the company supplies components for Russian drones.

The frontline is nearly frozen, talks are stalled, and both sides are answering that silence with long-range strikes. Civilian deaths are now at their highest level since the first months of 2022. That is the direction this war is moving.
