JUST IN: Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, posts a record $184 billion profit and reveals a SpaceX stake for the first time. The fund is now valued at around $2.34 trillion.

Norway's sovereign wealth fund just made 184 billion dollars in six months. A record. The whole fund is now worth around 2.34 trillion, and it owns roughly 1.5 percent of every listed stock on the planet, all of it for five and a half million Norwegians.

The engine was Asian tech this time, says CEO Nicolai Tangen, plus the usual monsters, 61.8 billion in Nvidia, 52.7 billion in Apple.

And tucked in the report, a first, a SpaceX stake worth 1.2 billion dollars. Which is awkward, because Tangen and Elon Musk are famously not friends. The fund voted down both of Musk's giant pay packages, and Musk once texted Tangen, friends are as friends do, after being refused a favour. Now Norway owns a slice of his rocket company anyway. Money forgives faster than people do.

At this pace the question writes itself. Does the fund cross 2.5 trillion dollars by New Year's Eve?
