Zelensky Says Ukraine Will Resume Russian Refinery Strikes, Defying Trump
NEW: Zelensky says Ukraine will resume strikes on Russian oil refineries, defying Trump after pausing the attacks under US pressure.
Zelensky says the refinery strikes are back on, and Washington isn't going to like it.
Ukraine had paused its attacks on Russian oil refineries under pressure from President Trump. That pause is now over. The Ukrainian president, seen here, says Kyiv will resume hitting the installations that fund Moscow's war, a direct defiance of the man in the White House.
And that's the uncomfortable part. Trump has made calming this war a personal project, and leaning on Kyiv to hold fire on Russian energy was part of his playbook. Zelensky just told him no, in public. Those refineries, deep inside Russia, are the Kremlin's cash registers, and Ukraine has shown it can reach them with long range drones.
So the question hanging over all of this is simple. Kyiv needs American weapons, and it just crossed the man who signs off on them. Watch what Washington does next.
