Bryan Kohberger Granted New Hearing In Bid To Withdraw Guilty Plea

BREAKING: Bryan Kohberger granted new court hearings in his bid to withdraw his guilty plea in the University of Idaho student murders case.

Bryan Kohberger is getting his day in court, again.

A judge in Idaho has set two hearings on his bid to withdraw his guilty plea in the University of Idaho student murders. Judge Steven Hippler, the same judge who accepted that plea last year, scheduled a status conference for June 3, 2027, and an evidentiary hearing for June 17. Prosecutors asked him to throw the filing out with no hearing at all. He said no.

Kohberger admitted to killing Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in 2022. The deal gave him life without parole and no right to appeal. Now he claims his own lawyers pressured him into signing, and that he is innocent.

Here is what makes this so hard to sit with. Kaylee's father Steve says he is fine with the plea being withdrawn, because he wants Kohberger to face a full murder trial. The families never got one. Next June, they may find out if they will.
