CoreWeave shares tumble as bond yields near 15% on concern about AI borrowing binge

BREAKING: $CRWV shares sink 16% as CoreWeave's bond yields blow out toward 15%, stoking fears over the AI industry's borrowing binge.

CoreWeave's bonds are yielding almost 15 percent, and the stock just dropped 16.

This is the company renting out AI computing power to the biggest names in tech, and the market spent today treating its debt like a distressed asset. The 2032 bond touched 15 percent before closing at a new high, junk territory and then some. Here's the slide in action.

Chamath Palihapitiya flagged the chart on X, asking whether the AI build-out is quietly inflating a private credit bubble. Elon Musk's entire reply was one word, yikes. CEO Mike Intrator fired back in a memo, saying the market misunderstands and acts irrationally, and that the backlog more than covers the debt.

Maybe. But Wells Fargo's fixed income desk put it plainly, the era of easy money is dissipating, and lenders now want real compensation for AI risk. When a B plus rated company building data centers on borrowed billions pays 15 percent, that's not a vibe, that's a price. The whole AI trade just got a receipt.
