Donald Trump imposes tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones
JUST IN: Trump imposes tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and components, including from key US allies, citing national security. The measures take effect in 21 days.
Trump just slapped a 100 percent tariff on imported drones, allies included.
He signed the proclamation Thursday, and you can see him here. The White House says America is too reliant on foreign drones, so the most sensitive models get hit with the full 100 percent, smaller ones get 25.
And nobody escapes. The EU, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan all get 15 percent, and Britain, the special relationship itself, still pays 10. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick ran the investigation, and his finding was blunt, foreign drones pose security risks and American factories can't make enough to cover the gap.
The clock is already ticking, the main tariffs land in 21 days, with less sensitive components getting 180. Twenty five states are already suing over his last round of tariffs. This one doubles the price of a drone overnight and dares them to add it to the pile.
