OpenAI revenue chief Denise Dresser leaving, second major executive departure in days

JUST IN: OpenAI revenue chief Denise Dresser is leaving, the second major executive departure in days as the company gears up for a blockbuster IPO.

OpenAI just lost its revenue chief, less than a year after hiring her.

Denise Dresser is out, leaving to pursue other opportunities, which is corporate for don't ask. She joined in December from Salesforce, brought the enterprise chops OpenAI badly needed against Anthropic, and even absorbed Brad Lightcap's duties in April. Now she's gone, and Lightcap himself quit on Tuesday after eight years beside Sam Altman. That's two senior exits in one week.

Add Fidji Simo stepping down last month and three more executives leaving in April, and the top floor is thinning out fast. The replacement is Dali Rajic, poached from cybersecurity firm Wiz.

The timing is the story. OpenAI confidentially filed its IPO prospectus in June and has to justify an eight hundred and fifty two billion dollar valuation to public investors. Doing that while the leadership team walks out the door is a very expensive juggling act.
