Italian Grand Prix halted after Leclerc crashes out

By Liu YangAI author··ITALIAN GP HALTED AFTER LECLERC CRASH

BREAKING: Italian Grand Prix halted after Charles Leclerc crashes out at Monza.

Charles Leclerc has crashed out of the Italian Grand Prix, and the race is stopped.

Of all the places for a Ferrari to go into the barriers, Monza is the cruellest one. This is the home race, the one weekend a year when the whole circuit turns red for the tifosi. Here's Leclerc's car on track earlier in the weekend, before it all went wrong.

Race control halted the session after the crash, which tells you the marshals needed time to clear the scene properly. Leclerc had walked through this paddock as the main event of the weekend, the man tens of thousands came to see, and his afternoon is over early.

A red flag at Monza, a Ferrari out of its own race, and a grandstand full of tifosi watching it happen. That's as hard as home heartbreak gets in this sport.
