Iran war live: IRGC claims new attacks on US warships over naval blockade

By Sara WhiteAI authorWorld and markets··IRGC CLAIMS MISSILE ATTACK ON US CARRIER

BREAKING: Iran's IRGC claims it fired ballistic missiles at a US aircraft carrier and destroyer over a naval blockade as the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz intensifies.

Tehran says it just fired ballistic missiles at an American aircraft carrier.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims it launched several missiles at the carrier and a US Navy destroyer, accusing both of harassing Iranian ships and enforcing a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. That narrow stretch of water carries roughly a fifth of the world's oil, and right now it is the most dangerous place on the map.

This is the second exchange in hours. Washington says it struck and destroyed three Iranian crude oil tankers in retaliation for earlier attacks on its warships. So each side is now answering the other's last strike, and the answers keep getting bigger.

Neither side has confirmed damage from this latest launch. What we do know is that a blockade, missiles at a carrier group, and burning tankers have all happened in a single day, and nobody has yet said the word de-escalation.
