Look at these pictures: concrete pancaked flat, crews and neighbors digging side by side. At least fifteen hundred buildings are damaged, and every one of those piles is somewhere a person might still be waiting.

The clock is the enemy now. Survival chances under collapsed concrete drop hard after the first days, which puts all the pressure on President Gustro — Gustavo Petro's government to move heavy equipment and rescue teams west, fast. Each update we've read tonight has been worse than the last, and there's nothing in these pictures that says the pattern breaks.
